Gerhart's big game bests Mississauga in 6-2 Aurora win

Austin Gerhart had two goals and two assists to lead the Aurora Tigers to a 6-2 victory over the Mississauga Chargers.

Gerhart scored on the power play at 2:38 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Aurora and again while 11:09 into the second to make the score 3-1 Aurora.

Aurora excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tigers forced Mississauga goalie Tyler Richardson to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Aurora's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Tigers average 3.2 goals per contest.

Aurora additionally got points from Drake Board, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Liam Neuman as well. In addition, Aurora received assists from Kyle Locke, Evan Kearns, Alex Formenton, and James Thomson, who contributed one each and Mark Rozanov and Todd Winder, who each chipped in two.

The Chargers kept Aurora's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joshua Boyko made 29 saves on 31 shots. Mississauga struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Tigers to score three power play goals on five chances.

The Chargers were helped by Brandon Yeamans, who had one goal. Yeamans scored 9:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Daniel Pereira picked up the assist. Thomas Lattavo also scored for Mississauga. More assists for Mississauga came via Steve Mariani, Aidan Parker, and Shane Beaulieu, who contributed one each.

Aurora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mississauga's Richardson stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Chargers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
