Orangeville beats Burlington 4-3 after comeback scare

The Burlington Cougars tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Orangeville Flyers held on for a 4-3 victory.

Orangeville made the score 4-2 on a goal by Ethan Wiseman at 18:47 in the second period, and Burlington got as close as 4-3 when Jordan Peacock scored 9:04 into the third period.

The Flyers were led by Wiseman, who tallied one goal.

Orangeville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their four power plays. The Flyers forced Burlington goalie Andrew Lee to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Orangeville also got points from James McLaughlin, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Orangeville also had goals scored by James Ranson and Lucas Smilsky, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Connor Stack, who had two and Zack Vukosa, Derek Topatigh, and Matthew Barnes, who contributed one each.

Orangeville was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Burlington eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Cougars were helped by Dante Felicetti, who registered one goal. Felicetti scored 5:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burlington. Zac Herrmann provided the assist. Nicholas Holt also scored for Burlington. More assists for Burlington came via David Thomson, Ben Morris, Tyler Riter, and Jack Jeffers, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers' Nicholas Latinovich stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Orangeville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lee rejected 45 shots on goal for Burlington. The Cougars incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
