St. Michaels beats Buffalo 6-5 after comeback scare

The St. Michaels Buzzers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Buffalo Jr. Sabres on the way to a 6-5 win.

St. Michaels made the score 6-4 on a goal by Michael Andlauer at 17:22 in the third period, and Buffalo got as close as 6-5 when Christian DiFelice scored 19:50 into the third period.

Andlauer had a great game for the Buzzers, netting two goals.

St. Michaels stifled the Jr. Sabres' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Buzzers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. St. Michaels has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

St. Michaels additionally got points from Finn Evans, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Michaels included Mitchell Devins-Cann, Colton Trumbla, and A.J. Dorazio, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Luke Branco, Mark Paolini, Brad Cocca, Thomas Beretta, Noah Jordan, Dalton Barnes, and Cameron Searles, who each chipped in one and Lucas Breault and Cameron Wright, who contributed two each.

Buffalo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Sabres ended up below its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. Buffalo's offense rang up 40 shots on the Buzzers' net.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Joshua Biasillo, who tallied one goal and one assist. Biasillo scored 16:12 into the first period to make the score 3-2 St. Michaels. Aaron Reinig picked up the assist. Buffalo also had goals scored by Mitchell Spring, Brenden Dunning, and Dylan Seitz, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Nicholas Bondra, who had two and Tim Nicksic, Christopher Berger, Wilson Vershay, Zach Evancho, and David Baskerville, who each chipped in one.

Jacob McGrath rejected 35 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tucker Weppner recorded 16 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
