DiFelice lifts Buffalo over Georgetown, 6-3

Christian DiFelice had two goals to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to a 6-3 victory over the Georgetown Raiders.

DiFelice's tallies came at 9:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 15:12 into the second to make the score 4-2 Buffalo.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:40 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Buffalo was relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Sabres ended up below their season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Buffalo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Jr. Sabres average 3.8 goals per contest. Buffalo got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Others who scored for Buffalo included Dylan Seitz, who had two and Evan Bennett and Matthew Buchbinder, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Joshua Biasillo, who had two and Tim Nicksic, Christopher Berger, Nicholas Bondra, and Brenden Dunning, who contributed one each.

Georgetown forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and four majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The Raiders surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Georgetown's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Raiders give up 2.1 goals per game.

Georgetown was led by Josh Dickinson, who registered two goals. Dickinson scored the first of his two goals at 8:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Michael Boushy provided the assist. Dickinson's next tally made the score 4-3 Buffalo with 2:48 left in the second period. Daniel Hardie assisted on the tally. Georgetown also got a goal from Matthew Cairns as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jordan Crocker, Ashur Elliot, and Jack Jacome, who each chipped in one.

Tucker Weppner recorded 18 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Jr. Sabres ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Pizzo was ejected from the game. Billy Day took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Andrew Masters who made four saves. The Raiders registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Wyatt Hicken, Crocker, and Kyle Allan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
