GAME RECAP

Trenton downs Stouffville in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Duncan Memorial    Fri, Oct 02, 2015

The Trenton Golden Hawks pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Stouffville Spirit on a clutch goal by Hunter Fargey.

Stouffville's power play was ineffective against Trenton's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Golden Hawks were led by Fargey, who grabbed one goal. Fargey scored 12 seconds into overtime to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Danny Hanlon picked up the assist.

Trenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Spirit to score on any of their six power plays. The Golden Hawks' offense operated below their season average. Trenton averages 4.1 goals per game. Stouffville was unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Trenton also got a goal from Lucas Brown as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Blayne Oliver and Adam Clements, who contributed one each.

The Spirit's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Trenton power plays.

Stouffville was led by Stefan Palatsidis, who scored the team's only goal. Palatsidis scored 6:48 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Spencer Roberts assisted on the tally.

Troy Paquette rejected 19 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aaron Taylor made 43 saves for the Spirit on 45 shots. Stouffville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
