Huge game by Jeffers boosts Burlington over Mississauga, 6-3

The Burlington Cougars' Jack Jeffers had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Mississauga Chargers.

Jeffers beat Tyler Richardson with a shot 2:36 into the second period on the power play to make the score 3-2 Mississauga. An interference penalty on Tyler Riter had put Mississauga on the power play. Aidan Parker picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, the Chargers were paced by Steve Mariani, who had two goals. Mariani scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. Parker provided the assist. Mariani's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Mississauga with 2:38 left in the first period. Ryan Markovic picked up the assist.

Burlington forced Mississauga goalie Richardson to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Burlington also got points from David Thomson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Daniel Volpe, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ben Morris also scored for Burlington. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were David Kiss, Samuel Gagnon, and Dante Felicetti, who each chipped in one and Willy Paul and Jordan Peacock, who contributed two each.

The Chargers forced Cougars' goaltenders to work in net, firing 31 shots and forcing 28 saves. Andrew Lee made 16 stops and John Jeffries made 12.

Mississauga also got a goal from Thomas Lattavo as well. More assists for Mississauga came via Kyler Matthews and Shane Beaulieu, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Richardson recorded 35 saves for Mississauga. The Chargers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
