Ryckman leads Newmarket to shutout victory over Toronto Patriots

The Newmarket Hurricanes used a sparkling performance by Connor Ryckman to take down the Toronto Patriots Patriots, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Newmarket's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Hurricanes were sparked by Nicholas Favaro, who grabbed one goal. Favaro scored 7:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket. Jonathan Colley provided the assist.

Newmarket's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Toronto Patriots power plays. The Hurricanes' defense was surprisingly good. Newmarket allows 2.4 goals per game.

Newmarket additionally got points from Curtis Harvey, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Marty Lawlor, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Newmarket also got a goal from Ryan Shaw as well. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Mitchell Duggan, Adam Smith, Christian Dedonato, and Ryan Young, who contributed one each.

Toronto Patriots could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Patriots put an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game.

Connor Ryckman made 25 saves for the Hurricanes on 25 shots. Newmarket incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jacob Standen rejected 22 shots on goal for Toronto Patriots. The Patriots incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
