Zanette lifts North York over Milton, 4-0

The North York Rangers relied on the scoring touch of Nick Zanette, who netted two goals, to beat the Milton Icehawks, 4-0.

Zanette's tallies came at 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York and 19:30 into the first to make the score 2-0 North York.

Gianluca Baggetta spearheaded the defensive effort for North York, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 30 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Baggetta will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.05.

The Rangers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

North York excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Rangers' defense was surprisingly good. North York allows 2.3 goals per game. The Rangers forced Milton goalie Marcus Semiao to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

North York also had goals scored by Michael Morgan and Grayden Gottschalk, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Louis Kereakou, who had two and Jeremy Szabo, Ted Hunt, Ryan Takamatsu, Jason Pineo, Adam Giacomin, and Nick Campoli, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Milton puts an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game.

North York registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Icehawks' Semiao stopped 47 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Milton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Icehawks, Dawson Shackelton was ejected from the game.
