Kingston survives Aurora comeback, wins 5-4

The Kingston Voyageurs, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Aurora Tigers and clinched a 5-4 victory.

Kingston led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Voyageurs' Danny Bosio scored at 3:00 in the first period to put Kingston up 3-0.

Jacob Hanlon and Anthony Rinaldi provided the spark for the Voyageurs, combining for three goals and two assists. Hanlon registered two goals and one assist and Rinaldi also notched one goal and one assist.

Kingston forced Aurora goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Kingston also got points from Bosio, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Rinaldi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Zachary Emelifeonwu also scored for Kingston. More assists for Kingston came via Matthew Lourenco and Connor Cobbold, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Aurora averages 2.4 goals allowed per game.

The Tigers were led by Daniel Mantenuto, who finished with two goals and one assist. Mantenuto scored the first of his two goals short handed at 9:56 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. Aurora played down a man on Drake Board's interference. Mantenuto's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Kingston with 2:59 left in the second period. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when the Voyageurs' Mason Corliss was sent off for roughing. Board provided the assist. Aurora additionally got points from Board, who also had one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Kyle Locke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Todd Winder, who had two.

David Richer made 21 saves for Kingston on 25 shots. The Voyageurs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Aurora's Brooks-Potts stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Aurora ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Locke was ejected from the game.
