St. Michaels outlasts Wellington, 5-3

The game between the St. Michaels Buzzers and the Wellington Dukes was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Michaels emerged with a 5-3 win.

The Buzzers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Cameron Searles 18:10 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

St. Michaels was led by Searles, who racked up one goal.

The Buzzers outdid their season average for goals scored. St. Michaels averages 2.4 goals per game.

St. Michaels also got points from Dalton Barnes, who also registered one goal and one assist and Michael Andlauer, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Michaels included Sam Hunter and Thomas Beretta, who each put in one. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Cameron Wright, who had one and A.J. Dorazio, who had three.

Wellington kept the Buzzers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Manolescu made 31 saves on 34 shots.

The Dukes were helped by Ben Sokay, who grabbed one goal. Sokay scored 8:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Chase St Aubin assisted on the tally. Wellington additionally got points from Luc Brown, who also racked up one goal and one assist and St Aubin, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Wellington came via Jacob Hetherington, Jacob Panetta, Tyler Burnie, and Nick Devito, who each chipped in one.

St. Michaels incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Buzzers, Barnes was ejected from the game. Olivier Lafreniere recorded 19 saves for Wellington. The Dukes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
