Huge game by Fargey boosts Trenton over Pickering, 7-2

The Trenton Golden Hawks' Hunter Fargey had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-2 win over the Pickering Panthers.

Fargey's first goal came 19:54 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:09 into the second, at 17:59 into the second, and at 13:53 into the third.

Pickering's power play was ineffective against Trenton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Golden Hawks forced the Panthers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Mathew Woroniuk made nine stops and Paul Giusti made 20. Trenton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Hawks have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Trenton was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 13 man advantages. The Golden Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Trenton additionally got points from Brandon Marinelli, who also registered one goal and one assist and Danny Hanlon, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Trenton also got a goal from Liam Morgan as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Kevin Lavoie, Adam Clements, Spencer Herbst, and Lucas Brown, who each chipped in one and Mitch Emerson, Jordan Chard, and Blayne Oliver, who contributed two each.

Pickering could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Panthers were led by Andrew Hughes, who had one goal. Hughes scored on the power play 16:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Pickering had gained a power play chance when Lavoie was whistled for interference. Tiger McDonald also scored for Pickering. More assists for Pickering came via Kennedy Duguid and Owen Scuralli, who each chipped in one.

Trenton's Troy Paquette stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. For the Golden Hawks, Emerson and Lavoie were ejected from the contest.
