Brown lifts Wellington over North York, 3-1

The Wellington Dukes relied on the scoring touch of Luc Brown, who netted two goals, to beat the North York Rangers, 3-1.

Brown's tallies came on the power play at 17:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wellington and 19:28 into the third to make the score 3-1 Wellington.

North York was stymied by Wellington's netminder Austin Washkurak, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Washkurak will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 5.09.

The Dukes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four North York power plays. Wellington forced the Rangers goalie Gianluca Baggetta to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Wellington additionally got points from Dylan Mascarin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Wellington received assists from Tyler Burnie, who had two and Jacob Panetta and Ben Sokay, who contributed one each.

North York's offense operated below its season average. The Rangers average 3.3 goals per game.

North York was led by Kyle Clarke, who scored the team's only goal. Clarke scored 10:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Louis Kereakou picked up the assist.

The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gianluca Baggetta made 32 saves for the Rangers on 34 shots. North York incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
