Orangeville wins tough contest against Oakville, 4-2Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Fri, Sep 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Orangeville Flyers and the Oakville Blades was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Orangeville emerged with a 4-2 win. The Flyers gained the winning advantage on a goal by James Ranson 10:16 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Orangeville was led by Ranson, who finished with one goal and one assist. The Flyers' offense rang up 38 shots on Oakville's net. Orangeville also had goals scored by Colin Rigney, Kosta Likourezos, and Brett Bannister, who each put in one. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Zack Lyons, Lucas Smilsky, and Ethan Wiseman, who each chipped in one. The Blades managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Oakville wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blades were helped by Christian Rajic, who tallied one goal. Rajic scored 8:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Josh Kosack provided the assist. Oakville also got a goal from Drew Worrad as well. More assists for Oakville came via Patrick Kudla, Brendan DAgostino, and Ryan Garvey, who contributed one each. Orangeville's Nicholas Latinovich stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Flyers avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays. Brendan McGlynn made 34 saves for Oakville on 38 shots. The Blades registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
