St Aubin lifts Wellington over Cobourg, 3-1

Chase St Aubin was all over the ice for the Wellington Dukes, as he tallied two goals in Wellington's 3-1 win over the Cobourg Cougars.

St Aubin scored at 1:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington and again while 19:43 into the third to make the score 3-1 Wellington.

Cobourg was stymied by the Dukes' netminder Anthony Popovich, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Popovich managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.78 prior to the game.

Wellington's offense rang up 36 shots on the Cougars' net.

Brodie Maracle also scored for Wellington. More assists for Wellington came via Ben Sokay, who had two and Jake Falcao and Nick Devito, who each chipped in one.

Cobourg could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Cougars put an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game.

Cobourg was led by Sam Dunn, who scored the team's only goal. Dunn scored on the power play 6:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when the Dukes' Devito was sent off for high sticking. Theo Lewis picked up the assist.

Wellington incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stefano Durante recorded 33 saves for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
