Pickering uses early goal to top Lindsay, 3-1

The Pickering Panthers took the lead against the Lindsay Muskies in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

Pickering took over the lead for good with a goal by John Hudgin at 2:47 in the first period. Mackenzie Heber assisted on the tally.

The Panthers were led by goalie Troy Paquette, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Paquette managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.2 prior to the game.

Pickering was sparked by Robert Clark, who registered one goal. Clark scored 4:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pickering. Davis Kuksis picked up the assist.

Pickering also got a goal from Kyle Gentles as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Doug Carter and Tiger McDonald, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Panthers to score on any of their six power plays.

The Muskies were led by Owen Barnett, who scored the team's only goal. Barnett scored on the power play 4:40 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Lindsay had taken the advantage when Pickering's Austin Veleke got sent off for slashing. Kristopher Diclemente assisted on the tally.

The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sean Green recorded 23 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Muskies ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and James Allen was ejected from the game.
