Panthers beats Turtles 8-2 as Lucero gets hat trick

Matt Lucero netted a hat trick to lead Panthers over Turtles, 8-2.

Lucero's first goal came 18:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:40 into the second and at 12:09 into the second.

The win gave Panthers a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Panthers forced Turtles goalie Jason Chow to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots.

Panthers also got points from Anthony Conti, who also had two goals and one assist and Dyllan Quon, who also registered two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Panthers also got a goal from Joel Issigonis as well. In addition, Panthers received assists from Quinten Issigonis, who had two and Luke Kalenuik, who had three.

Turtles was helped by Grant Harvey, who registered one goal. Harvey scored on the power play 1:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Turtles earned a power play opportunity when Corey Webster was put in the box for roughing. Ryan Sullivan picked up the assist. Perry Chow also scored for Turtles. More assists for Turtles came via Darren Uretsky, who had one.

Panthers' Jonny Donohoe stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Panthers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Chow rejected 44 shots on goal for Turtles. Turtles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
