Jon Bautista netted a hat trick to lead Buds over Off Boys, 7-5.

Bautista notched his first tally 9:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:03 into the first and at 2:37 into the second.

The win gave Buds a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Buds led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Buds' AJ Partiak scored at 14:21 in the second period to put Buds up 7-4.

Off Boys was unable to stop Buds from sending pucks towards the net, and Buds eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Buds also got points from Erick Bautista, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Steve Tajiri, who also tallied one goal and three assists. In addition, Buds received assists from Irvin Kwong, who had five.

Off Boys forced Buds goalie Brian Brubaker to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Off Boys was led by Talon Udall, who registered two goals and two assists. Udall scored the first of his two goals at 31 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-3 Buds. Udall's next tally made the score 6-4 Buds with 7:16 left in the second period. Zoel Thibault assisted on the tally. Off Boys additionally got points from Thibault, who also had one goal and one assist and Andrew Field, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Off Boys were Raymond Chen, who had one and Jason Savino, who had two.

Brubaker recorded 31 saves for Buds. Buds incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Raymond Chen made 26 saves for Off Boys on 33 shots. Off Boys incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
