Team SP and Buds were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Team SP made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-4.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Emmanuel LEsperance at 2:23 of the second period.

The win gave Team SP a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

With three goals and one assist between them, Ryan Wong and Chris Doucette teamed up to power Team SP's offense. Wong tallied two goals and Doucette also added one goal and one assist.

Team SP's offense rang up 33 shots on Buds' net.

Team SP additionally got points from Doucette, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Team SP also got a goal from Adrian Leung as well. More assists for Team SP came via Johnny Choy and Daniel Chieu, who each chipped in one and Kevin Nukina, Alwin Tsui, and John Nguyenn, who contributed two each.

Buds was led by Jon Bautista, who registered two goals. Bautista scored the first of his two goals at 8:41 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Team SP. Steve Tajiri picked up the assist. Bautista's next tally made the score 5-4 Team SP with 7:32 left in the second period. Sashi Parekh assisted on the tally. Buds also had goals scored by Stefan Dietz and Conor McElveen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buds received assists from Brian Mach and Marco Silva, who each chipped in one.

Boris Lau recorded 18 saves for Team SP. Team SP incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Buds' Brian Brubaker stopped 28 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Buds incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
