Sakuraba nets hat trick, leads Lougheed to 9-3 win over Somalian Pirates

Somalian Pirates could not stop Lougheed's Michael Sakuraba, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-3 win.

Sakuraba notched his first tally 8:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:55 into the first and at 17:57 into the second.

The win gave Lougheed a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Lougheed's offense rang up 32 shots on Somalian Pirates' net.

Lougheed also got points from Matt Wong, who also registered one goal and three assists, Francis Gachallan, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jay Trinca, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Michael Ramos also scored for Lougheed. In addition, Lougheed received assists from Brian Keslering, who had one and Mike Vuong and Simon Shyng, who each chipped in four.

Somalian Pirates forced Lougheed goalie Enzo Pesce to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The defensemen of Somalian Pirates were also effective in Lougheed's zone, and came away with three goals.

Somalian Pirates was led by Lucas Bedford, who tallied two goals. Bedford scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Vuong had put Somalian Pirates on the power play. Sam Evans picked up the assist. Bedford's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Lougheed with 8:57 left in the first period. Jake Estey assisted on the tally. Somalian Pirates also got a goal from conor lees as well. More assists for Somalian Pirates came via Michael Shindler and Jordan Gill, who contributed one each.

Lougheed's Pesce stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Lougheed incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Robert Mclachlan rejected 23 shots on goal for Somalian Pirates. Somalian Pirates incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
