Lougheed survives NWO-Wolfpac comeback, wins 7-5

Lougheed, which led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by NWO-Wolfpac and clinched a 7-5 victory.

Lougheed led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Lougheed's Francis Gachallan scored at 9:00 in the second period to put Lougheed up 7-3.

The win gave Lougheed a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Michael Ramos and Simon Shyng provided the spark for Lougheed, combining for three goals and three assists. Ramos finished with one goal and three assists and Shyng also added two goals.

Lougheed took advantage of NWO-Wolfpac's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Lougheed got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Lougheed also had goals scored by Gary Chui, Michael Sakuraba, and Jay Trinca, who each put in one. In addition, Lougheed received assists from Mike Vuong and Brian Keslering, who contributed one each.

NWO-Wolfpac forced Lougheed goalie Enzo Pesce to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

NWO-Wolfpac was helped by Anthony Tsumura, who racked up two goals. Tsumura scored the first of his two goals at 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NWO-Wolfpac. Christopher Tung assisted on the tally. Tsumura's next tally made the score 2-0 NWO-Wolfpac with 16:05 left in the first period. NWO-Wolfpac had taken the advantage when Lougheed's Matt Wong got sent off for holding. Phillip Chou picked up the assist. NWO-Wolfpac also got points from Tung, who also had two goals and one assist. NWO-Wolfpac also got a goal from Austin Parkhurst as well. More assists for NWO-Wolfpac came via Brian Tran, who had one and Steve Tajiri and Andrew Wong, who contributed two each.

Lougheed's Pesce stopped 42 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Lougheed incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Victor Kam made 14 saves for NWO-Wolfpac on 21 shots. NWO-Wolfpac incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
