Shen leads Punishers over East Side Tigers, 9-4

Punishers' Roy Shen had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing one assist in his team's 9-4 win over East Side Tigers.

Shen's first goal came 6:23 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:16 into the second, at 10:21 into the second, and at 17:06 into the second.

The win gave Punishers a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Punishers' offense rang up 35 shots on East Side Tigers' net. Punishers cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

Punishers also got points from Phal Um, who also registered one goal and one assist, Tam Do, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jeff Huang, who also tallied three goals and three assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Punishers came via Kelvin Kuan, who had one and Sean Kingsley and Brendan Richards, who each chipped in two.

Punishers was unable to stop East Side Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and East Side Tigers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. East Side Tigers got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

East Side Tigers was helped by Shakeel Sahukhan, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Sahukhan scored 1:08 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Punishers. Justin Johal assisted on the tally. East Side Tigers additionally got points from Sam Prakash, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Tim Villar, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Johal, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, East Side Tigers received assists from Chris Malkin and Amrit Jhutti, who contributed one each.

Lee Carron made 28 saves for Punishers on 32 shots. East Side Tigers' Malkin stopped 26 shots out of the 35 that he faced. East Side Tigers totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. East Side Tigers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Steven Lalli was ejected from the game.
