Washington's big game bests HYP in 8-3 Burnaby Chargers win

Nathan Washington had one goal and three assists to lead Burnaby Chargers to an 8-3 victory over HYP.

Washington scored 1:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burnaby Chargers. Adam Davies assisted on the tally. Washington dished an assist on Stephen Cabrita's goal that made the score 2-0 Burnaby Chargers at 4:08 into the first period. He then added assists on Brandon Hall's goal at 15:08 into the second and on Cory Richardson's goal at 17:05 into the second.

The win gave Burnaby Chargers a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Burnaby Chargers additionally got points from Hall, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Davies, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Matthew Jang also scored for Burnaby Chargers. In addition, Burnaby Chargers received assists from Simon Leader, who had two, Jared Stacey, who had three, and Daniel Josok and Jonathan Sousa, who contributed one each.

HYP got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

HYP was helped by Zachary Turner, who registered one goal. Turner scored 18:08 into the first period to make the score 4-3 Burnaby Chargers. Andy Wong provided the assist. Others who scored for HYP included Keith Ebenal and Kevin Kwok, who scored one goal each. More assists for HYP came via Tom Shum, who had one.

Joshua Cabrita rejected 25 shots on goal for Burnaby Chargers. Burnaby Chargers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Jerome Ip recorded 22 saves for HYP. HYP avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
