Undaunted by a four-goal deficit, Smiling Penguins battled back to claim a 6-5 victory over Chopsticks.

Smiling Penguins never led in the game until netting the game winner. Smiling Penguins trailed 5-1 after a goal by Chopsticks' Tony Trinh at 18:41 in the first period. Smiling Penguins tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Babak Filsoof at 13:38 in the second period. Smiling Penguins netted the game winner at 17:43 in the second period on a goal by Filsoof.

The win gave Smiling Penguins a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Smiling Penguins got the win behind a great game by Chung Wai Tam, who had two goals and three assists. Tam scored the first of his two goals at 19:40 into the first period to make the score 5-3 Chopsticks. Kristoffer Fransson picked up the assist. Tam's next tally made the score 6-5 Smiling Penguins with 2:17 left in the second period. Fransson provided the assist.

Smiling Penguins' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Chopsticks power plays.
