Wong's big game bests BC Buds in 6-5 MF Hustlers win

Martin Wong had four goals and one assist to lead MF Hustlers to a 6-5 victory over BC Buds.

Wong got on the scoresheet 16:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:58 into the second, at 11:36 into the second, and at 12:24 into the second.

The win gave MF Hustlers a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

MF Hustlers additionally got points from James Hewett, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Michael Kim also scored for MF Hustlers. Other players who recorded assists for MF Hustlers were Derrick Cheung, who had two and Matt Szczecinski, Sam Najafi, and Leonard Louie, who contributed one each.

BC Buds did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

BC Buds was helped by Daniel Torres, who registered two goals. Torres scored the first of his two goals at 16:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BC Buds. Torres' next tally made the score 2-1 BC Buds with 1:28 left in the first period. Mike Han picked up the assist. Others who scored for BC Buds included Lester Leonor, Dustin Boyce, Ryan Lyster, and Tim Nguyen, who each put in one. In addition, BC Buds received assists from Nelson Shum, who had one and Neil Bagaoisan and Jeremy Delos Santos, who contributed two each.

Eric Wong recorded 21 saves for MF Hustlers. MF Hustlers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. BC Buds' Raashil Singh stopped 19 shots out of the 25 that he faced. BC Buds registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
