McLovin gutted out a close 4-3 win against The Misfits.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mike Hoang at 10:45 of the second period.

The win gave McLovin a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Hoang and Banyon Rathwell provided the spark for McLovin, combining for three goals and two assists. Hoang racked up two goals and one assist and Rathwell also notched one goal and one assist.

McLovin got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

McLovin additionally got points from Rathwell, who also registered one goal and one assist. McLovin also got a goal from Bruce Kong as well. More assists for McLovin came via Dennis Gunn, Des Chao, and Dang Huynh, who each chipped in one.

The Misfits did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Misfits was helped by Jordan Rolfe, who grabbed two goals. Rolfe scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Samuel Wong assisted on the tally. Rolfe's next tally made the score 4-3 McLovin with five seconds left in the second period. Patrick Fong picked up the assist. The Misfits also got points from Wong, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, The Misfits received assists from Jame Lee and Ray Eng, who contributed one each.

Michael Der made 13 saves for McLovin on 16 shots. McLovin ended with no penalties and went 1-for-1 on the power play. The Misfits' Simon Zhou stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Misfits registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
