Huge game by Dunster boosts Dirty Birds over Arsenal HC, 9-3

Behind a great game by Gavin Dunster, who had one goal and two assists, Dirty Birds defeated Arsenal HC, 9-3.

Dunster got on the board by slotting home a goal 1:59 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Dirty Birds. Samuel Dickison provided the assist. Dunster dished an assist on Jeremy Thom's goal that made the score 1-1 at 14:14 into the first period. He added another helper on Liam Phillips's goal that made the score 7-3 Dirty Birds at 7:53 into the second period.

Dirty Birds managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Dirty Birds finished below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. Dirty Birds forced Arsenal HC goalie Ludwik Breczewski to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Dirty Birds' goal total was higher than its season average. Dirty Birds has scored at the pace of 5.1 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Dirty Birds were also effective in Arsenal HC's zone, and came away with two goals.

Dirty Birds also got points from Cole Byrd, who also had one goal and one assist and Austin Depourcq, who also grabbed three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Dirty Birds were Cam Buchholtz, who had three and Sean Brown and Kevin Lam, who contributed one each.

Arsenal HC was led by James Kusaka, who registered one goal and two assists. Kusaka scored 17:48 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Arsenal HC. Drew McKinnon picked up the assist. Arsenal HC additionally got points from Nick Acconci, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tuan Luong, who also had one goal and one assist.

Eamonn Mackenzie made 27 saves for Dirty Birds on 30 shots. Dirty Birds registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Arsenal HC's Breczewski stopped 35 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Arsenal HC avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of one power plays.
