Saskatchewan JR Pats hangs on, beats Team Pennsylvania 5-3

Saskatchewan JR Pats beat Team Pennsylvania, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 11:03 into the first period by Anthony Wilson proved to be the game winner, and powered Saskatchewan JR Pats to the victory. Noah Asmundson assisted on the tally.

Saskatchewan JR Pats also had goals scored by Riley Heidt, Dustin Renas, and Brayden Yager, who each put in one. More assists for Saskatchewan JR Pats came via Carson Birnie, Quinn Mantei, Kalan Lind, Phoenix Ramage, and Reid Andresen, who each chipped in one.

Team Pennsylvania managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Team Pennsylvania finished below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game.

Team Pennsylvania was helped by William Sheridan, who had two goals. Sheridan scored the first of his two goals at 9:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Bunting picked up the assist. Sheridan's next tally made the score 3-2 Saskatchewan JR Pats with 13:12 left in the third period. A cross checking penalty on Asmundson had put Team Pennsylvania on the power play. Davis Ross assisted on the tally. Team Pennsylvania also got points from Bunting, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Team Pennsylvania received assists from Christopher Pelosi and Charlie Cerrato, who contributed one each.

Kenneth Marquart recorded 14 saves for Saskatchewan JR Pats. Saskatchewan JR Pats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities. Team Pennsylvania's Rocco Bruno stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Team Pennsylvania registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
