Stouffville beat Whitby, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Stouffville took over the lead for good with a goal by Zach Roberts at 16:35 in the first period. Thomas Hernandez picked up the assist.Roberts had a great game for Stouffville, netting two goals. Whitby's power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Stouffville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Stouffville also got a goal from Vaughn McCusker as well. Whitby's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stouffville power plays. Whitby's offense operated below its season average. Whitby averages 3.6 goals per game. Whitby was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes. Whitby was led by Shane Bull, who scored the team's only goal.
