Knoxville holds on for 4-2 win against Mississippi RiverKings

The Knoxville Ice Bears survived a determined comeback attempt by Mississippi RiverKings on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Matthew Paton put Knoxville up 4-1 in the third period, but Mississippi RiverKings pulled to within two on Mike Grace's tally 19:00 into the third period.

The win by the Ice Bears clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Eric Satim had two goals and one assist to lead Knoxville. Satim scored the first of his two goals at 2:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Satim's next tally made the score 3-1 Knoxville with 4:48 left in the second period. Ben Power assisted on the tally.

The Ice Bears stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Knoxville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Francis Drolet, Paton and Satim took 11 of the team's 18 shots.

Knoxville also got points from Drolet, who also had one goal and one assist.

The Ice Bears were unable to stop Mississippi RiverKings from sending pucks towards the net, and Mississippi RiverKings eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Matt Whitehead, who racked up one goal. Whitehead scored 11:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. Daniel Sobotka provided the assist. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Matt Harrington, who had one.

Bryan Hince rejected 36 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Peter Di Salvo made 14 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 17 shots. Mississippi RiverKings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
