Kingston blows out Toronto Patriots, 6-1Westwood Arena Sat, Apr 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Toronto Patriots Patriots. The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Voyageurs got the win behind a great game by Alex Tonge, who had two goals and one assist. Tonge scored the first of his two goals at 4:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kingston. Jaylon Gorman provided the assist. Tonge's next tally made the score 6-0 Kingston with 8:39 left in the third period. Cole Bolton assisted on the tally. Toronto Patriots was stymied by Kingston's netminder Daniel Urbani, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Urbani certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.17 entering the contest. The Voyageurs forced the Patriots' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Mathew Robson made 10 stops and Emanuel Vella made 17. Kingston additionally got points from Bolton, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kingston included Ryan Watson, Colin Tonge, and Alex Stothart, who each put in one. In addition, Kingston received assists from Matt Hoover, who had two and Adam Moodie, Adam Brady, Joey Rutkowski, and Spencer Green, who each chipped in one. Toronto Patriots excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Patriots incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Toronto Patriots ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Carter was ejected from the game.
