The Pembroke Lumber Kings beat the Carleton Place Canadians, 6-4, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Cameron Hughes provided Pembroke with the game-winning tally when he scored 18:59 into the first period. Alexandre Boivin provided the assist.

With the win, the Lumber Kings evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Pembroke's penalty kill excelled, as the Lumber Kings gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Pembroke was led by Stephen Cooney, who had two goals. Cooney scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pembroke. The Lumber Kings earned a power play opportunity when Maxime StPierre was put in the box for goalie interference. Anthony Nellis picked up the assist. Cooney's next tally on the power play made the score 6-4 Pembroke with 16 seconds left in the third period. Adam Dauda provided the assist. Pembroke additionally got points from Jesse Blais, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nellis, who also registered one goal and two assists. Brett Horn also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Fraser Turner, who had two and Hudson Michaelis and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one each.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 31 shots on Pembroke's net. The Canadians got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Carleton Place was helped by Ryker Killins, who registered two goals. Killins scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. The Canadians had taken the advantage when the Lumber Kings' Justin Felhaber got sent off for high sticking. Andy Sturtz picked up the assist. Killins' next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Pembroke with 18:27 left in the third period. Sturtz provided the assist. Carleton Place also got points from Sturtz, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Andrew Dodson as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Stephen Baylis, who had two and Jordan Larson and Craig Pefley, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino made 27 saves for Pembroke on 31 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Carleton Place's Guillaume Therien stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
