Jordan Peacock grabbed one point to lead the Caledonia Corvairs to a 2-1 victory over the Leamington Flyers. The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Corvairs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Leamington power plays. Caledonia kept Leamington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Wheaton made 36 saves on 38 shots. Cosimo Fontana also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Luke Sinclair, Connor Patton, Nathan Gomes, and Austin McEneny, who each chipped in one. The Flyers stifled the Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Leamington was led by Zack Guilbeault, who scored the team's only goal. Guilbeault scored 8:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington. Alex Friesen assisted on the tally. Kevin Entmaa rejected 24 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Caledonia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Tanev was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
