Ottawa wins tough contest against Pembroke, 4-3

The Ottawa Senators gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Brandon Watt's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Senators were paced by Watt, who registered one goal. Watt scored 17:15 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ottawa. Zach Car provided the assist.

Ottawa was led by Watt, who finished with one goal.

The Senators' offense rang up 31 shots on Pembroke's net.

Ottawa also got points from Isaac Anderson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ottawa also had goals scored by Daniel Sarracco and Joey Champigny, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Sean Rappleyea, Bruno Cheff, Carl Faucher, and Jim Pearson, who each chipped in one.

The Lumber Kings were led by Adam Dauda, who had two goals. Dauda scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Pembroke earned a power play opportunity when Champigny was put in the box for boarding. Hudson Michaelis picked up the assist. Dauda's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 9:15 left in the third period. The Lumber Kings had gained a power play chance when Connor Bebb was whistled for roughing after whistle. Alexandre Boivin assisted on the tally. Jesse Blais also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Colton Keuhl, Owen McDade, and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one each.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger recorded 23 saves for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pembroke's Jordan Piccolino stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
