Idaho Junior Steelheads rolls over Fresno Monsters, 5-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over Fresno Monsters.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Fresno Monsters faces elimination next time out.

Idaho Junior Steelheads got the win thanks to a great game by Arturs Sevcenko, who had two goals and one assist. Sevcenko scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. A hooking penalty on Mitchell Dolman had put Idaho Junior Steelheads on the power play. Phil Fromberger picked up the assist. Sevcenko's next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads with 16:41 left in the third period. Fromberger provided the assist.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Kyle Kruenegel, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Johannes Yucel, who also had one goal and one assist. Macky Power also scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads. In addition, Idaho Junior Steelheads received assists from Dimitris Jones, who had two and Oleg Losev, Victor Carlsson, and Hunter Lester, who contributed one each.

Fresno Monsters was led by Mark Shroyer, who scored the team's only goal. Shroyer scored on the power play 6:38 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Fresno Monsters earned a power play opportunity when Kyle TenEyck was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Jonathan Bengtsson assisted on the tally.

Tyler Hough made 20 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads on 21 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Austin Piquette rejected 25 shots on goal for Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
