LaSalle blows out Leamington, 5-1

The LaSalle Vipers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Leamington Flyers.

With the win, LaSalle avoided elimination to make the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series.

The Vipers were led by goalie Paolo Battisti, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Battisti managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.61 prior to the game.

Brett Primeau was all over the ice for LaSalle, as he had two goals in the win. Primeau found the back of the net 15:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle and again while 18:15 into the third to make the score 5-1 LaSalle.

Leamington was unable to stop the Vipers from sending pucks towards the net, and LaSalle eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

LaSalle also got points from Daniel Beaudoin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for LaSalle included Nathan Savage and Manny Silverio, who each put in one. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Korey Morgan and Chris Pignanelli, who each chipped in one and Nicolas Crescenzi, Nathan Veres, and Brendan Harrogate, who contributed two each.

The Flyers' offense rang up 41 shots on the Vipers' net.

Leamington was led by Mitchell Amante, who scored the team's only goal. Amante scored on the power play 11:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. The Flyers had taken the advantage when LaSalle's Primeau got sent off for slashing. Tyler Duarte picked up the assist.

The Vipers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Michael Barrett recorded 26 saves for Leamington. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
