St. Catharines falls to Caledonia in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Caledonia Corvairs' Jake Brown scored 6:48 into overtime to beat the St. Catharines Falcons, 4-3 (OT).

The win gave Caledonia a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Brown was all over the ice for the Corvairs, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Brown scored the first of his two goals at 2:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Connor Patton provided the assist. Brown's next tally made the score 4-3 Caledonia with 13:12 left in overtime. Erick Delaurentis assisted on the tally.

Caledonia forced St. Catharines goalie Ben Csiernik to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Others who scored for Caledonia included Connor Bramwell and Austin McEneny, who scored one goal each. More assists for Caledonia came via Kyle Tanev, Nathan Gomes, and Cosimo Fontana, who contributed one each.

The Falcons stifled the Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Catharines was led by Paolo De Sousa, who had one goal and one assist. De Sousa scored 12:46 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Jake Evans picked up the assist. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Brock Ackerman and Broderick Kelly, who each put in one. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Tyler Morrison, Ryan Doucette, and Brandon Cercone, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Entmaa made 21 saves for Caledonia on 24 shots. The Corvairs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Falcons' Csiernik stopped 39 shots out of the 43 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
