Traverse City Hounds rides Krejcik to victory over Soo Firehawks, 3-1

Traverse City Hounds relied on the sparkling performance of David Krejcik in net to grab a 3-1 win against Soo Firehawks.

The win by Traverse City Hounds clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Traverse City Hounds was sparked by Scott Luca, who registered one goal and one assist. Luca scored on the power play 14:34 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds had taken the advantage when Soo Firehawks' Stephen Hillock got sent off for tripping. Cam Fisher picked up the assist.

Traverse City Hounds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Traverse City Hounds kept Soo Firehawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mackenzie Bruce made 38 saves on 41 shots. The defensemen of Traverse City Hounds were also effective in Soo Firehawks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Traverse City Hounds also had goals scored by Kevin Hansen and Kevin Cole, who each put in one. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Jan Voves and Cam Givens, who each chipped in one.

Soo Firehawks forced Traverse City Hounds goalie Krejcik to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Soo Firehawks was led by Anthony Laaksonen, who scored the team's only goal. Laaksonen scored 1:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. Daniel Bachynsky assisted on the tally.

Traverse City Hounds' Krejcik stopped 32 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Traverse City Hounds totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Soo Firehawks ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
