Metro survives penalties, beats Great Falls, 3-1

The Metro Jets, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Great Falls Americans' power play opportunities and emerged with a 3-1 victory.

The win gave Metro a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Jets were led by Alex Holm, who grabbed one goal. Holm scored 6:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Jacob Rutkoske picked up the assist.

Metro excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Jets' offense rang up 32 shots on Great Falls' net.

Others who scored for Metro included Zach Koonce and Matt Dempsey, who each put in one. In addition, Metro received assists from Tyler Layle, who had two and David Chavis, Devin Kelly, and Ryan Bloom, who contributed one each.

The Americans were led by Cody Page, who scored the team's only goal. Page scored 11:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Lucas Lomax assisted on the tally.

Metro's Kameron Limburg stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Jordan Moran rejected 29 shots on goal for Great Falls. The Americans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
