Pearson's goals lift Ottawa to 5-2 victory over Gloucester

Jim Pearson was all over the ice for the Ottawa Senators, as he tallied two goals in Ottawa's 5-2 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Pearson scored at 9:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa and again while on the power play 16:11 into the first to make the score 3-0 Ottawa.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Gloucester faces elimination next time out.

The Senators forced the Rangers' goaltenders to work in net, taking 34 shots and forcing 29 saves. Doug Johnston made eight stops and David Richer made 21.

Ottawa also got points from Joey Champigny, who also had one goal and one assist. Brandon Watt also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Shawn Lynch, Thomas Crevier, and Geoffrey Lawson, who each chipped in one and Robert Michel and Connor Bebb, who contributed two each.

Gloucester was helped by Vincent Guimond, who finished with one goal. Guimond scored on the power play 4:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. A charging penalty on Alexandre Way had put the Rangers on the power play. Matt Adams assisted on the tally. Gloucester also got a goal from Max Veronneau as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Matt Foget and Nicholas Ngwafusi, who each chipped in one.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger recorded 26 saves for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gloucester incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
