Carleton Place blows out Nepean, 6-1

The Carleton Place Canadians had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Nepean Raiders.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Nepean faces elimination next time out.

Carleton Place pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Canadians were led by Jordan Larson, who finished with one goal. Larson scored 8:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Andy Sturtz assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Francis Marotte made 39 saves on 45 shots. The Canadians had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 13 chances.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Stephen Baylis, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Tyson Stewart, Bryce VanHorn, Owen Stewart, and Ryker Killins, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Craig Pefley, who had two and Willie Brooks, Wesley Baker, Alex Robinson, Adam Lloyd, Connor Merkley, and Vinny Post, who contributed one each.

Guillaume Therien made 16 saves for Carleton Place on 17 shots. Nepean incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
