Carleton Place blows out Nepean, 5-1

The Nepean Raiders had trouble finding ways to stop the Carleton Place Canadians, which beat Raiders, 5-1.

The win gave Carleton Place a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Canadians were led by Bryce VanHorn, who had one goal and one assist. VanHorn scored 8:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Craig Pefley assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nepean power plays. The Canadians' offense rang up 34 shots on Nepean's net.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Wesley Baker, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jordan Larson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Vinny Post and Ryker Killins, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Andy Sturtz, who had one and Adam Lloyd and Stephen Baylis, who each chipped in two.

The Raiders were led by Mac MacSorley, who scored the team's only goal. MacSorley scored 17:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Corey Tam picked up the assist.

Guillaume Therien recorded 22 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Francis Marotte rejected 29 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
