Metro downs Pittsburgh in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Metro Jets' Matt Dempsey scored 8:38 into overtime to beat the Pittsburgh Vengeance, 6-5 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Pittsburgh faces elimination next time out.

Ryan Bloom had a great game for Metro, netting two goals. Bloom scored at 3:19 into the third period to make the score 4-4 and again while 6:35 into the third to make the score 5-4 Metro.

The Vengeance were unable to stop the Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Metro eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Metro additionally got points from Dempsey, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Graham Day, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Metro included Alex Holm and Pearce Vance, who each put in one. In addition, Metro received assists from Jacob Drinkard, who had two and David Chavis, Cooper McLean, Tyler Layle, Cody Jones, Jake Sealy, Jason Newel, and Jacob Rutkoske, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh forced the Jets goalie Kameron Limburg to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Vengeance did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Pittsburgh was helped by Devin Sroka, who finished with one goal. Sroka scored 4:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Yevgeniy Gladkiy assisted on the tally. Pittsburgh also got points from Nils Markgren, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Adem Arifi, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pittsburgh also had goals scored by Bryan Hovanec and Eli Lynn, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Gus Peponidis, Richard Doherty, Parker Henry, Brennan Conway, and Michael Straub, who contributed one each.

Limburg rejected 27 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Stack made 28 saves for the Vengeance on 34 shots. Pittsburgh registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
