M1 Stony Brook University holds on for 2-1 win against M1 Arizona State University

The M1 Arizona State University Sun Devils tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

M1 Stony Brook University took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have M1 Arizona State University storm back on a Edward McGovern goal 9:22 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Seawolves were led by goalie Brendan Jones, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Jones will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.5 entering the contest.

M1 Stony Brook University was led by JT Hall, who racked up one goal. Hall scored 4:20 into the third period to make the score 2-0 M1 Stony Brook University. Tyler Underhill provided the assist.

By firing 20 shots on goal, the Seawolves exceeded the 2.7 shots they average per game this year.

Nick Barbera also scored for M1 Stony Brook University. In addition, M1 Stony Brook University received assists from Vincent Lopes and Sam Brewster, who contributed one each.

The Sun Devils managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. M1 Arizona State University ended up below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game. The Sun Devils could not produce up to their normal offensive output. M1 Arizona State University puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. M1 Stony Brook University was unable to stop the Sun Devils from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Arizona State University eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

More assists for M1 Arizona State University came via David Norris and Liam Norris, who each chipped in one.

The Seawolves incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Lucas Felbel recorded 18 saves for the Sun Devils. M1 Arizona State University registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
