Cornwall falls to Hawkesbury in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Hawkesbury Hawks' Hunter Racine scored 13:49 into overtime to beat the Cornwall Colts, 4-3 (OT).

The win gave Hawkesbury a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

In the losing effort, Cornwall was led by Ross Craig, who registered two goals. Craig scored the first of his two goals at 38 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Marly Quince assisted on the tally. Craig's next tally made the score 3-3 with 5:38 left in the third period. The Colts had gained a power play chance when Racine was whistled for goalie interference.

In a losing effort, Cornwall was led by Craig, who racked up two goals.

The Hawks forced the Colts goalie Denny Dubblestyne to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Hawkesbury also got points from Reid Murphy, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Jonathan Tecce and Liam Alcalde, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Ross Mandigo, who had two and Damien Charette and Chris Harper, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

Cornwall also got a goal from Tristen Elie as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Lawson MacDonald, Tanner Spink, and Peter Angelopoulos, who contributed one each.

Gunner Rivers made 50 saves for the Hawks on 53 shots. Hawkesbury incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cornwall's Dubblestyne stopped 39 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
