Gloucester survives Kemptville comeback, wins 5-3

The Gloucester Rangers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Kemptville 73s and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Gloucester led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rangers' Joey Fallon scored at 6:32 in the second period to put Gloucester up 3-0.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Kemptville faces elimination next time out.

Fallon had two goals and two assists to lead the Rangers.

Gloucester forced the 73s' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Jacob Tugnutt made 18 stops and Nicholas Hodgins made 14.

Gloucester also got points from Jaren Burke, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Gloucester included Dorian Dawson and Max Veronneau, who each put in one. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Matt Adams, who had two and Bobby Williams, Zachary Borsoi, and Matt Foget, who contributed one each.

The Rangers were unable to stop Kemptville from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Kemptville was helped by Justin Haasbeek, who grabbed one goal. Haasbeek scored 8:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Gloucester. Alex Row picked up the assist. Kemptville also had goals scored by Tyson Kirkby and Matt Tugnutt, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kemptville came via Cody Hendsbee, Brandon Lesway, Dean Galasso, and Tyler Young, who each chipped in one.

Doug Johnston made 34 saves for Gloucester on 37 shots. The Rangers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The 73s incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
