Alliston rips Schomberg, 7-1

The Alliston Hornets were firing on all cylinders against the Schomberg Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Hornets emerged with a 7-1 win.

The win gave Alliston a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Mark ODonnell was all over the ice for the Hornets, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. ODonnell scored 3:45 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston.

Alliston forced Cougars' goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Taylor Ewart made 12 stops and Luke Gamoyda made 16. The Hornets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Schomberg power plays.

Alliston also got points from Nick Arcan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Matt Taylor, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Alliston included Connor Annett, who had two and Jacob Tuck and Nic Archibald, who each put in one. In addition, Alliston received assists from Joe Cochrane, Gianluca Pallotta, and Tanner Dockerty, who contributed one each and Steve Griggs and Andrew Ceolin, who each chipped in two.

Alliston's Tyler Brindle stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Hornets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Schomberg ended with 47 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors and one major. For the Cougars, Michael Longato was ejected from the game.
