North Iowa boosted by Amsden's play in net, beats Twin City 4-1North Iowa Ice Arena Fri, Mar 06, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The North Iowa Bulls relied on the sparkling performance of Chris Amsden in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Twin City Steel. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Twin City faces elimination next time out. North Iowa was sparked by Joe Burgmeier, who had one goal and one assist. Burgmeier scored on the power play 4:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. The Bulls had gotten the advantage when the Steel's Tristan Mayer was sent off for cross checking. Johnny Panvica picked up the assist. Twin City was unable to stop North Iowa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. North Iowa was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play. North Iowa also got points from Brett Gravelle, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Iowa included Joe Kleven and Conor Durgan, who each put in one. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Robert Click, Tommy Heinzman, Sam Naegele, and Jake Johnson, who each chipped in one. The Steel's offense rang up 36 shots on the Bulls' net. Twin City was led by Joe Costello, who scored the team's only goal. Costello scored on the power play 1:03 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Chris Amsden made 35 saves for North Iowa on 36 shots. The Bulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Parker Butler rejected 45 shots on goal for the Steel. Twin City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
