Port Hope hangs on, beats Napanee 3-1Strathcona Paper Tue, Mar 03, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers took the lead against the Napanee Raiders in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. A goal 12:45 into the first period by Cameron McGill proved to be the game winner, and powered Port Hope to the victory. The Panthers earned a power play opportunity when Brodie Butt was put in the box for high sticking. Connor Turland assisted on the tally.The win gave Port Hope a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Napanee was stymied by the Panthers' netminder Devan Tremblay, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Tremblay certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.03 entering the contest. Port Hope was paced by Dan Lagrois, who racked up one goal. Lagrois scored 17:49 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope. Braeden Kublick provided the assist. The Panthers forced the Raiders goalie Tomo Mikuljan to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Port Hope also got a goal from Dalton Lawrence as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Tyler Davey, who had one. Napanee's offense rang up 32 shots on Port Hope's net. The Raiders were led by Zach Knapp-Hermer, who scored the team's only goal. Knapp-Hermer scored on the power play 10:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope. Napanee had gotten the advantage when the Panthers' Lawrence was sent off for tripping. Austin Boulard picked up the assist. Port Hope incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mikuljan recorded 40 saves for the Raiders. Napanee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
