O Brien's goals lift Stratford to 5-0 victory over Cambridge

Shane O Brien had two goals to lead the Stratford Cullitons to a 5-0 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

O Brien scored on the power play at 16:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford and again while 18:29 into the first to make the score 2-0 Stratford.

The win by Stratford broke a deadlock and gave the Cullitons a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Stratford forced Cambridge goalie Lucas Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Stratford additionally got points from Hayden Broomhead, who also registered three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Deven Kropf, who had three and Matthieu Bourbeau, Mitch Brooks, Patrick McKelvie, Trevor Sauder, and Justin Graham, who contributed one each.

Nick Redman made one save before being replaced by Nicholas Caldwell, who took the win and made 19 saves. The Cullitons incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Winter Hawks' Machalski stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
