Battisti leads LaSalle to shutout victory over Strathroy

Paolo Battisti was superb between the pipes for the LaSalle Vipers, as he did not allow a goal in a 5-0 victory over the Strathroy Rockets.

The win by LaSalle clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Tyler Russell was all over the ice for the Vipers, as he tallied two goals in the win. Russell scored at 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle and again while on the power play 7:07 into the third to make the score 5-0 LaSalle.

LaSalle forced Strathroy's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Mat Ouellet made 12 stops and Dane Gubbels made 21. The Vipers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Strathroy power plays.

LaSalle also got points from Korey Morgan, who also registered one goal and one assist and Daniel Beaudoin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Nathan Savage as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Mark Manchurek, who had three and Nick Gauvin, Brett Langlois, Chris Pignanelli, Brendan Harrogate, and Brett Primeau, who contributed one each.

The Rockets' offense rang up 36 shots on LaSalle's net.

Paolo Battisti made 36 saves for the Vipers on 36 shots. LaSalle incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Strathroy incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
